On patrol as a California Highway Patrol Officer in the motorbike unit, I, Timmothy Robinson, self-responded to a high-speed vehicle pursuit involving a white Jeep Trackhawk traveling north on Great Ocean Highway toward Paleto. As I responded, the pursuit has allready entered Paleto Bay and was approaching the Ron Gas Station.
I observed the suspect make a right turn onto Paleto Blvd, so I followed the pursuit. Further down the road, the suspect pulled into a grocery store parking lot but quickly exited it, continuing along Paleto Blvd. The suspect then bailed out of the vehicle, which crashed into the side of a bank, and fled on foot toward the gas station.
The primary units exited their vehicles and pursued on foot while I remained on my bike, trailing them. At this point, the suspect turned around, pointed a firearm at the officers, and opened fire. During this chaotic moment, one officer was struck, and both I and the primary driver unholstered our weapons. The primary driver discharged multiple rounds at the suspect while I fired six rounds in his direction. After the gunfire ceased, a responding unit assessed the suspect, while another and the primary unit attended to the downed officer.
Fortunately, the officer who was shot made a successful recovery, but the suspect was pronounced dead on arrival at Paleto Bay Medical Center.
I, Timmothy Robinson, discharged my service weapon at the suspect due to the immediate threat he posed to my fellow officer and me. My actions helped prevent the suspect from causing further harm to the public, fellow officers, and myself.
