✅ VIDEO SUMMARY
The background layer in Adobe Photoshop acts like a canvas - it should always be the last layer in your layer hierarchy. Some features such as opacity, fill and blending modes won't work on a background layer. To unlock a background layer, either drag the lock to the bin in the bottom right hand corner of the Layers panel, or left-click once on the lock. You can create a new background layer by going to the "Layer" menu option, "New" and then "Background from layer".
