Today we're taking a look at the KingSpec NE2280 series 256GB NVME pcie SSD. KingSpec sent this SSD over to me for review. It looks like a solid value NVME drive so I'm quite interested to take a look at it. The NE2280 series SSDs come in many capacities, 128gb, 256gb like what I have here today and they go all the way up to 2 and even 4th versions. The NE series utilizes TLC memory with HMB technology versus traditional dram on the SSD. This results in better performance than SSDs with no DRAM but it's not quite as fast. That being said, KingSpec rates this drive for 1500-2400 megabytes per second sequential read and 500 to 1800 megabytes per second sequential write. I'm my testing, I was able to get up to 2500 megabytes per second read and just under 1200 megabytes per second write while texting the drive as the main OS drive for my Ryzen 7700X gaming rig. I think that's a great speed considering the cost of the drive. The 256gb drive has a endurance rating of 174TBW which is plenty for a 256gb drive in my opinion. KingSpec warranties these drives for 3 years as well. I think if your looking for a solid NVMe on a budget, the NE2280 series SSDs are a good value. I will probably continue using this on my test bench gaming PC but I could easily see this breathing life into a laptop or being a good choice if you build it to PCs. The drive does heart up much at all and like I said, it's just a good value pick in my opinion.
