DJay 95 Plays: Steel Gunner (Arcade) Longplay
Hey players, DJay here with another arcade exclusive longplay on a gallery shooter of the 90's, Steel Gunner.
Description of the game:
Steel Gunner is a gallery shooter released exclusively for the arcades by Namco in March 1991 on the Namco System 2 hardware. This is Namco's very first arcade gallery shooter before Golly! Ghost!, Lucky & Wild, the Point Blank series and Time Crisis. It is often compared to Taito's more violent Space Gun and Midway's Terminator 2: Judgement Day. It spawned a sequel, Steel Gunner 2, a year later.
In the year 2004, Neo Arc City is left under attack of a terrorist organization named Sturm, sending robots to destroy the city. To make matters worse, they developed a secret world ending superweapon. Their main priority is capturing 2 quantum physics scientists named Dr. Ryan and Dr. Ellis. The Neo Arc City police have come up with a solution by sending two officers, Garcia and Cliff, using the Gargoyle mechs to counter the attack from Sturm. They must fight off against the merciless machines while tracking down their leader, Gatse Bernard.
Throughout the course of the game, players control either Garcia or Cliff and must clear at least 4 stages. In each stage, players must destroy the robots using the gun to open fire at them. They must be shot down before they shoot the player. There will also be civilians who will run across the screen and must be protected without shooting, restoring life if doing so. If too many enemies appear, missiles can be used to destroy several of them on the screen, as well as nullifying incoming attacks. At the end of each stage, bosses await and must be shot down. When a stage is cleared, the player results is displayed, and the player will regain energy and 4 extra missiles in the next stage. Players lose energy if they get shot by the enemies or as a penalty if a innocent bystander gets shot. If out of energy, players will be opted to continue. (It will cease to be available upon reaching Gatse Bernard.)
Rescue Dr. Ryan and Dr. Ellis and destroy Sturm before their superweapon completely destroys Neo Arc City.
