Hey players, DJay here with a new longplay on another arcade title of the late 90's, Strider 2.

Description of the game:

Strider 2 is a belt scrolling hack and slash game developed by Capcom and published by Virgin Interactive in the arcades in December 1999 on the Sony ZN-1 system board. It was later ported on the PlayStation in 2000 and on PlayStation 3 via PlayStation Network in August 2014. Mobi-chan, the Yashichi pinwheel, Sakichi symbols and the Zenny coins appear here as bonus items. It marks the first appearance of Hien, a strider gone rogue, who appears playable via the PlayStation port. It is unrelated to the Sega Genesis game of the same name in 1994. This is the only game where options do not appear as power-ups. The game takes inspiration from Marvel VS Capcom, most specifically, the soundtrack, sound effects and character sprite styles utilized.

The game's setting takes place 2000 years apart from the 1989 predecessor. Grandmaster Meio returns to seize control of the world yet again. But, the special ninja, Strider Hiryu, carrying the same codename of the strider who slew Meio 2000 years ago, has also surfaced, although this Hiryu is a clone of the same man from 2 millenniums ago reincarnated from the dead. Also, a new Strider going by the name of Hien, is brainwashed by Meio to stop Hiryu from reaching him. Now, Hiryu must eliminate Meio and his entire army, including Hien, to save the world.

While the graphics are upgraded to 2D characters sprites along with backgrounds rendered in 3D, the playstyle of the game remains the same as its predecessor, but with new movesets and power-up systems. Players must run across 5 stages (6 in the PlayStation version with the hidden mission unlockable after clearing the game) and constantly attack enemies patrolling each area. A new feature in the gameplay system is the boost mode which temporarily increases the Cypher's damage output and summoning plasma waves that home in on enemies. If damage has being taken, players can collect kanji symbols to recover health or extend it by 1 extra unit. Another new feature is the ranking system determined by the player's performance during each mission, ranging from rank E (lowest) to ⭐️ (highest). Higher ranks can be achieved by scoring as many points as possible and reducing the amount of lives lost. If too much damage is sustained, Hiryu will die and be opted to continue.

Race to defeat Grandmaster Meio and his army as quick as possible and save the world.
