The WIDE ANGLE/ANAMORPHIC LENS (ND) 5 Pack from Freewell is their latest set of filters and lenses for the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone.

THE LENSES

The wide angle lens takes the field of view from 82.1° to 111° giving a lot more room to work with. It is the equivalent of an 18mm lens. The only caveat is that there is some distortion that is easily corrected in post production editing.

The Anamorphic lens is my favourite. It gives a similar field of view but with less distortion and that wonderful blue streak when bright lights hit the lens. It also gives a narrower, more cinematic look to your footage and when grading is added, it looks amazing.

The set also comes with 5 ND filters that fit onto the two lenses but NOT the camera itself. You need one of the lenses to attach the filters too.

THE ND FILTERS

The ND Filters are ND16, ND32, ND64, ND128 and ND256.

THE WEIGHT

The Wide Angle Lens WITH ND Filter weighs just 3.1 grams (DJI's wide angle lens weighs 2.6 grams without ND filter).

The Anamorphic Lens WITH ND filter weighs 3.0 grams.

FROM FREEWELL REGARDING WEIGHT

"We have tested these lenses on a total of 11 DJI Mini 3 Pro's even with the ND filter on; the lens calibration has been successful 100 out of 100 times. However, when you calibrate with the ND filter, it does touch the top & bottom of the drone, without ND it doesn't either way this has no impact on its calibration.

I have added the lenses and filters with the drone both turned off AND on with no issues. I have noticed no issues when flying with either lens (and filters) attached either.

DE-SQUEEZE FACTOR

Most Anamorphic lenses have a "de-squeeze" factor of 1.33x but as this is a small drone with tiny camera, they can only manufacture lenses with a 1.19x squeeze. However, in practice, this actually looks really good coming from the SJI Mini 3 Pro.

All in all, these are great fun to fly with the DJI Mini 3 Pro as they give much wider views than normal. Being honest, I much prefer the Anamorphic lens as it gives superb, filmic looks to your footage. The wide angle certainly has its uses too and is best used when flying high shooting landscapes.

What with these lenses, filters and all the upgrade goodness that DJI have implemented for the Mini 3 Pro, this is a drone worth having regardless of your status...professional or hobbyist.
