For the past 7 weeks I have been helping to film an incredible story in a beautiful part of the UK.
Steve Etches spent most of his working life as a plumber although he had a passion for fossil hunting from an early age.
He was told by experts that there were no fossils to be found in Kimmeridge* clay and pretty much advised to stop looking.
*Kimmeridge in Dorset is where Steve lives and works but Kimmeridge clay is present throughout the UK and as far up as Russia.
Steve now has a museum dedicated to his work which is in Kimmeridge, Dorset and houses over 2,000 examples of his amazing findings.
He has received an MBE for his work as well as an honorary doctorate from Southampton University and continues to hunt for new species to this day.
Please check out his website or even better, visit the collection in Kimmeridge where you can meet the man himself.

After spending so long with Steve, the collection and time in Kimmeridge itself, I must encourage you to visit the museum, village and beach one day.
The documentary will have special guests Ian Gillan (Deep Purple) and Bill Oddie who are both interested in this field. It should be out later this year and will be well worth the wait!
