How To Calculate Story Stiffness Manually In ETABS 2023
In this training video we will try to understand how to control soft story in ETABS by creating save as from main ETABS design file ( with name story stiffness.edb).
in next step you should define two load pattern with name Kx (stiffness in direction X) and Ky (stiffness in direction Y)since we are worked on 5 story structure we should insert 5 load sets in user loads (load pattern,seismic,user loads) then you should apply same but in opposite direction forces (100 tonf) to each story in any floors for any direction for 5 load sets. then run your model to see results by display menu and story stiffness table.
copy data to new excel sheet and by using very simple formula in excel extract results that we need. the following all steps are illustrated in this video. I hope you understand and learn this tips.
