In this educational video, we intend to talk about how to reduce the ratio of shear walls.Sometimes, with the increase of the wall thickness or the maximum use of vertical reinforcements in the wall and in the boundary elements, the ratio of the wall is still higher than the allowed value and does not decrease. One of the ways to reduce this problem is to actualize the cracking coefficients for the columns on the sides of the wall. The shear wall interferes with the columns at the time of drawing, and its stiffness is considered twice in the calculations, which causes it to absorb more force than in reality.Considering whether the wall is cracked or not, the cross section of the columns connected to the wall can be reduced (A=0.35Xα or A=0.7X α).
