Little Giant Pass - Chiwawa Range, Washington State
Little Giant Pass offers one of the most spectacular views in the world. Towering, snow-capped mountains frame the Napeequa River, which winds its way through a glacier-carved valley far below. In the fall, the upper slopes are blanketed with vibrant colors that beckon you onward. While most hikers stop at the pass, we embarked on a wonderful Class 2 scramble northward along the Chiwawa Ridge, which provided even better views. To reach the pass, you must ford the icy waters of the Chiwawa River and climb over 4,000 feet in elevation, but the stunning scenery that awaits you makes all the effort worthwhile.
