Wallaby Peak - Washington State
Wallaby Peak is part of the rugged Kangaroo Ridge, located in the North Cascades near Washington Pass. The peak is clearly visible from the hairpin turn just southeast of the pass. Wallaby Peak is the only major summit along Kangaroo Ridge that does not require technical rock climbing skills; however, route-finding and scrambling skills are essential. The route to Kangaroo Pass and up to the peak is not maintained and can be hard to follow in places, as you must cross several talus- and scree-strewn sections. On a crisp fall day, when the larches are a vivid golden yellow, there is no better place to enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Pacific Northwest, far from the throngs of civilization.
