The Sentinel Ridge towers over the scabland of the Lower Crab Creek Wildlife Area in the Columbia Basin. Lower Crab Creek was once an ancient course of the Columbia River, but it is now a popular recreation area filled with rock-rimmed lakes, sand dunes, and alkaline sediment evaporation ponds. In this video, we climb to the top of the ridge to enjoy an eagle’s-eye view of the surrounding landscape. Overall, this is a great place to enjoy the outdoors in a desert environment far removed from the dense forests of western Washington.
