The lateral lunge, also called the “side lunge”, is a single-leg variation, which focuses on building lower body strength and mass. In this video, the patient is working on side sliding lunges with a towel to help improve his ankle stabilization. The towel creates drag which creates resistance and you can make it either harder or easier based on how much pressure you exert. Side lunges help to improve balance, stability, flexibility, and strength. Side lunges work multiple muscle groups throughout your lower body, including your quadriceps, abductors, glutes, adductors, and hamstrings.
