How to download Instagram photos & videos on android?

Instagram users find it difficult to find a way to download the images and videos that they find to be good and worth storing. There is no option to download an image or video from the interface of the app.

There are two apps that can do this job well..
Insta save and Insta download. There functionality is more or less same with only difference being that Insta save auto populates the image for which url is copied, while it needs to be pasted by a tap on paste button on insta download app.
