What does community pharmacy do? (The value of pharmacy in 2021)
In this video, we will be looking at the value of community pharmacy, the services it provides, and why it is important. I hope it provides a brief introduction into retail pharmacy in the UK, the types of services available, and the NHS pharmacy contract as of 2021. This video compares NHS services and its types - essential services which all pharmacies must provide, advanced services which pharmacies can provide, and enhanced services which are subject to local needs in the population, which some pharmacies are able to provide. It also looks at private, or non-NHS services that are not funded by the NHS.
Hopefully, this video is useful for pharmacy students, pharmacists, pre-reg trainees or anyone working in or interested in community or retail pharmacy with an NHS contract in Wales and England, to get an understanding of how pharmacy operates.
