With the results coming for trainee pharmacists (formerly known as pre-reg trainees) around the corner, this short video looks back on when I failed my first sitting, and the positives that were taken from it. This year has been an exceptional year and arguably the most challenging year for our future pharmacists as they faced a year of uncertainty with regards to their examinations and futures, and some worked in this time as provisionally registered pharmacists, a position unique to the circumstances of the pandemic in Covid 19.

The pre-registration exam is arguably the most challenging exam for a trainee up until that point in their lives, taking on all elements and more from their 4 years at university and years training. As the training requirements is changing, many pharmacy students, pre-reg trainees and teams have done a fantastic job given the circumstances.

This video is to share my experience with pharmacy trainees, newly qualified pharmacists, pharmacy students, the pharmacy team and students in general, in the lessons learned by failing the pre-registration exam assessment, and how ultimately it led me to be a better pharmacist and be better equipped when it came to the next sitting. Failing exams, and failing in general can often be disheartening and discouraging, but trying to adopt a positive mindset and work differently can yield positive results and lead to success, even if not as initially anticipated.

This year has been the most challenging yet, and the pre-reg trainees, pharmacy students and teams alongside those on the frontline have been a credit to the profession.

Good luck to everyone who sat the exam or is sitting!
