The Guitar Solo Session series features interpretations of some of my favorite guitar solos. In many cases, I try to stay true to the original solo, while also incorporating some different licks, nuances and inflections. My overall goal is to be in the musical ballpark.
About the song and the solo:
"Goodbye To Romance" was originally featured on Ozzy Osbourne's debut solo album, Blizzard Of Ozz. The albums was released in the UK in September 1980, and in the United States in March 1981. The album reached No. 21 on the Billboard 200 and has been certified quadruple-platinum. "Goodbye To Romance" was co-written by Ozzy Osbourne, Randy Rhoads and Bob Daisley.
On the original studio recording, the guitar solo was played by the late, great Randy Rhoads (RIP).
For the clean rhythm guitar and the solo on this recording, I played my Gold Jackson RR24 (with EMG pickups) through custom patches on my Eleven Rack. The backing track was downloaded via GuitarBackingTrack.com.
