The Guitar Solo Session series features interpretations of some of my favorite guitar solos. In many cases, I try to stay true to the original solo, while also incorporating some different licks, nuances and inflections. My overall goal is to be in the musical ballpark.

About the song and the solo:

Written by Stevie Nicks, "Silver Springs" was originally intended to be issued on Fleetwood Mac's 1977 mega-selling album "Rumours." The gorgeous ballad was pulled from the album and instead issued as a B-side to the Top 10 hit "Go Your Own Way." Two decades later, "Silver Springs" was released on Fleetwood Mac's 1997's reunion live album, "The Dance." The live version of the song garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.

On the recording on "The Dance," Lindsey Buckingham played the guitar solo slightly different compared to the 1977 studio recording. Buckingham's lead is based on the C major pentatonic scale and features his impeccable phrasing and dynamics. My cover is modeled after "The Dance" version.

For the lead guitar track, I played my Natural-colored Ibanez S970 Premium through a custom patch on my Eleven Rack. The backing track was downloaded via GuitarBackingTrack.com.
