Hello everyone, in this video, I'll be sharing my strategy for passing the CISSP exam. Please keep in mind that this strategy worked for me, and while it may not be universal, I hope it provides some useful insights for your own study approach.
First and foremost, I want to stress the importance of having a dream or goal. For me, it was the dream of passing the CISSP exam and becoming a certified information security professional. Having a clear goal is crucial to stay motivated and focused during your preparation.
Next, it's essential to assess your current reality. This includes understanding your available time, financial resources, and any other commitments you have. It's crucial to align your dream with your current reality to create a realistic plan.
Choosing the right study materials is another critical step. I highly recommend the Sybex ninth edition book as your primary reference material. It covers the CISSP syllabus comprehensively and provides a logical sequence of topics, making it easier to grasp concepts.
Understanding the concepts and building context around them is key. Don't just memorize information; strive to comprehend it deeply. You can use additional resources like online videos from experts and trainers to gain a broader perspective on the subject matter.
Creating your own study notes is vital. Documenting what you've learned helps solidify your understanding and serves as a personal reference during your revision.
Now, let's talk about the seven acts of courage that will help you succeed:
Dream: Have the courage to dream big and set a clear goal for passing the CISSP exam.
Know Your Current Reality: Understand your constraints, such as time, finances, and other commitments.
Confront: Confront the subject matter head-on. Don't shy away from challenging topics, even if they seem intimidating.
Love: Embrace a love for learning, even when faced with difficult concepts or challenging questions.
Learn and Grow: Be open to expanding your knowledge and skills. Don't be discouraged by areas where you might lack expertise.
Act: Take action on your study plan. Consistent effort and practice are essential for success.
Love Again: Approach challenges and criticism with love and an open mind. Embrace different perspectives and use them to enhance your understanding.
For practicing questions, I recommend using the official ISC2 examination practice app. It offers a wide range of practice questions that are aligned with the CISSP exam's content and format.
Lastly, when you go into the exam, keep a clear and focused mind. Stay confident, manage your time effectively, and remember that it's not the end of the world if you don't pass on your first attempt. Treat it as a valuable learning experience.
