Carotid Artery Stenosis || Ultrasound || Doppler || Case 246
Clinical Features:
A 61 years old male patient came with recurrent transient ischemic attacks.
Ultrasound Features:
Mild luminal narrowing or stenosis of right carotid bulb due to predominantly echogenic (Type III) plaque.
Mild luminal narrowing or stenosis of left carotid bulb due to substantially sonolucent (Type II) plaque.
Remember:
In case of recurrent stroke, searching for soft plaques (Type I, II) in carotid system is necessary to identify the cause of recurrence.
