Clinical Features:
A 27-year-old female patient came with lower abdominal pain, pervaginal bleeding & H/o induced abortion.
Two weeks later, patient again came with
Severe lower abdominal pain
Foul smelling pervaginal discharge & bleeding
High fever with chills & rigor
Ultrasound Features:
Endometrium is thickened & hypoechoic with increased vascularity on color Doppler.
Endometrial cavity is filled with echogenic foci casting comet tail artifacts & dirty shadows indicating air.
No retained product could be seen separately.
Remember:
The most common cause of hypoechoic endometrial thickening is endometritis.
