Have you ever encountered this normal map black edge artifact on your low poly mesh in Blender?
I've been looking for a fix to this for the past 6-months and have finally stumbled across a potential fix that forces Blender to use the shader normals as opposed to relying on the smoothed geometric normals of the mesh, which is what Blender currently does by default.
I have no doubt that this solution has its own drawbacks and limitations, though it yields far better results for normals on low poly meshes.
Ideally, I would love to see this implemented as a toggle in a future version of Blender to give users more autonomy over whether they want to use the smoothed geometric normals or force Blender to use the shader normals.
I believe this would give each artist more control over their work. If one normal solution provides them with more issues than it solves, they can switch over to a different method (using the shader normals) and decide on which version looks better for their project and render.
