Co-organized by the North American confederation CONCACAF, the 48th edition of the Copa América takes place in the United States from 20 June to 14 July 2024. This marked the second time the US has hosted the tournament, having already set stage to the Copa América Centenario in 2016. The tournament also acts as a prelude to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, of which the US is a joint host alongside Canada and Mexico.

Initially, the 2024 Cup had been expected to be hosted by Ecuador due to CONMEBOL's host rotation order, but CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez said Ecuador had been nominated but not yet chosen to organize the edition, yet in November 2022, the country decided to decline. Peru and the United States had both expressed interest in organizing the 2024 Copa América.

The US agrees to host the tournament, in 2023, as part of CONCACAF and CONMEBOL's new strategic partnership. At the same time, the 2024 Cup would involve six CONCACAF guest teams qualifying through the 2023–24 CONCACAF Nations League.
