Getting into safe mode on android and uninstalling the most recent apps is perhaps the first trouble shooting step.
This tutorial explains two methods to open android device in safe mode.
Method 1: In the switch on mode of android device, Long press shut down key, then long press power key.
Method- 2: Simultaneously hold the power button and volume down key in switch off mode of phone
If ever any app on your android device or your android device itself behaves then you don’t need to panic. Simply boot your device in safe mode and it allows you to troubleshoot your device related to crashes, freezes, or battery life issues, etc.

FOR MOST SAMSUNG and LG PHONES-
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Press the Power button along with volume down keyand keep holding until you see ‘Samsung’ logo on the screen.
3. When the logo appears in the screen, release the Power button and continue holding the volume down key.
4. In few seconds – your phone will start in safe mode.
FOR SONY DEVICES
1. Turn off the phone.
2. Press and hold down the power key until the phone vibrates.
3. Wait until the Xperia logo type disappears.
4.Press and hold the volume down key until the phone vibrates, and safe mode appears.
HTC phones with physical buttons
1. Turn off the phone. If you can't turn off the phone, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, and then reinsert the battery to restart the phone.
2. Press and hold the Menu button and then turn on the phone.
3. As the phone starts, keep holding down the Menu button until the lock screen appears or you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner.
HTC phones with non removable batteries
1. Long press the power button.
2. As the power off option appears tap and hold on the power off option for few seconds.
Nexus One
1. Turn off the phone. If you can't turn off the phone, remove the battery, wait a few seconds, and then reinsert the battery to restart the phone.
2. Turn on the phone.
3. When the phone logo appears, press and hold the trackball on the phone until the lock screen appears or you see "Safe Mode" in the bottom corner.
Motorola devices
First method:
1. Turn off the phone.
2. Press and hold the power button and when the logo appears release the power button and simultaneously press the volume down button until the safe mode appears.
Second method:
1.Long press the power button.
2. As the power off option appears tap and hold on the power off option for few seconds.
Note: There is no safe mode for iPhone and windows phone.
