Which servicemen were preferred by women at the front?
World War II veteran Vasily Ustimenko was barely 18 years old in 1944. By that time he had already been at the front for almost a year. “Young we were,” recalls Vasily Panteleevich. Guys and girls were drawn to each other, the blood was playing. The nurse was not so good, rowdy, not too prominent, and older than us. But my friend Vasya agreed to meet her in the evening and drink vodka together. Anyway, I got a can of stew, and Vasya went on a date in the evening. Seemed to be a success. I tried to hit on my sister too, but she was too picky. You're too skinny. And your eyes can't take it, she said. Can't take what? I pushed, putting my arm around the nurse's waist. The very thing! She laughed and went about her business. And in the evening I saw her with a tank lieutenant. War was war, but life never stopped.
