Please read the description/textbox first. Part 9 of the development of a very (read: very…) simple oscilloscope, made with the DG 7-32 CRT. I now show the complete schematic, but without the horizontal and the vertical amplifiers, thus the X and Y amplifiers.

Update (31 okt 2022): used the earlier published sawtooth genarator, could get it working. Though now (31 okt 2022) it needs more eleboration, circuit was not ripe enough to publish it on YT.

Please be aware: even without the classical X and Y amplifiers you can do many tests and experiments! Send signals directly to the plates, don't connect one of the hor-vert plates to ground, leave it as it is, so all plates to ground via that 120 K resistors.

With sinusoidal voltages in the order of 40-60-100 Volts on the horizontal plates (sent in via 330 N/300 V non polar capacitors) you can make many electronic/electrical phenomenon visible, say at the same time sending an AC signal to the vertical plates, also via these separation capacitors of say 330 N/300 V (watch the schematic in the video).

In a 1943 book I read: when a sinusoidal voltage is "smeared" out on the hor. plates (high deflection voltage) you can use it as a time base (related to the signal on the vert. plates) because a certain part of the sinusoidal wave is somewhat linear.

You can also, with the showed setup, add DC voltages to the horizontal and vertical plates directly.

That is why I have mounted, on the front, the electrodes (m3 bolts) that go directly to the plates, horizontal and vertical.

That makes it possible to do DC experiments/tests of electronic components, etc.

It makes it possible to connect DC amplifiers/DC voltages directly to the horizontal and vertical plates, given the fact that all plates are connected via a (“DC”) resistor of 120 K to ground/zero/mass.

Final thing in this project will be to make the horizontal and the vertical amplifier, that both have to work in the order of 80 Volts to 100 Volts (perhaps higher, max 200 V), to give enough deflection on the X-Y plates.

And the triggering of the sawtoothgenerator (to make the waveform that we want to study “stand still” on the screen) will also be an issue. It will take some time from now, 25 October 2022.
