Evolutionary design is one of the most effective techniques in programming.
Start simple, with the least assumptions about future types.
Don't shy away from primitive obsession at first.
But stay alert for signals of trouble.
Implementing operations at the consuming end is wrong.
Introduce cooperating types and move operations there.
The long video explains this design process in greater depth.
Don't let the state grow large.
Group related objects into a new type.
Don't overuse the primitive types.
Introduce abstractions naturally.
Design polymorphic types to represent the varying state.
Don't be afraid of an empty interface at first.
The operations will undoubtedly come later if you were right about this abstraction.
You will be happy to learn that there is a type to fit every new request perfectly.
Let your design evolve in time like a living organism.

👨 About Me 👨
Hi, I’m Zoran, I have more than 20 years of experience as a software developer, architect, team lead, and more. I have been programming in C# since its inception in the early 2000s. Since 2017 I have started publishing professional video courses at Pluralsight and Udemy and by this point, there are over 100 hours of the highest-quality videos you can watch on those platforms. On my YouTube channel, you can find shorter video forms focused on clarifying practical issues in coding, design, and architecture of .NET applications.❤️
