Some people don't believe that God literally became a man. They reject the doctrine of the incarnation. They deny the deity of Jesus Christ and view Jesus as a created flesh that God robed Himself with. They do not believe there was ever a union of divine nature with human nature when God was manifest in the flesh. Many end up turning Jesus into 2 Persons existing in one body. Others believe that Jesus was only a man that God created to dwell in. Others argue that the Word never became flesh but that God's qualities were simply manifested in a body that was made. Others argue that Jesus was just a man created by God who became deified at His baptism. Many other views exist which attack the deity of Jesus Christ. We have already learned that we must believe that Jesus Christ's very Person is Yahweh Himself (the I Am) in order to be saved according to John 8:21-27, 58). So this shouldn't be taken lightly. Many are actually believing in "another Jesus" by denying the deity of Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 KJVS
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. [4] For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
Many people wrongly assume that if God became a man then it means He would have ceased being God. They end up trying to understand what God did through His incarnation according to their human capabilities and carnal reasoning, diminishing the greatness of God: believing that it isn't possible for God to become a man without ceasing to be God transcendent to His newly acquired human existence. In this video we will learn important detail about how God has not changed. God will always be the only divine, eternal, invisible, omnipresent Spirit. But through His incarnation in the flesh He also exists as a genuine man (limited by human nature). God did not transform Himself into a man to the exclusion of His unlimited existence as the invisible omnipresent Spirit. God is now omnipresent Spirit and man at the same time (Father and Son at the same time). The incarnation does not mean that God was confined to a human existence. No, God was incarnated. His "Person" (essence) has not changed. His Person is simply experiencing a genuine human existence (having taken upon Himself the form of a servant).
Some people argue that John 1:14 is saying that the Word was simply revealed in a flesh that God created. They don't believe that the Word being "made flesh" is referring to the Word literally becoming a man. But when we compare Scripture with Scripture we can see how the Greek word that is translated into English as "made" in John 1:14 is also used and translated as "become" and "became" throughout the New Testament. The Word (Logos) that was God literally became flesh (a genuine man). Genuine humanity was involved when Jesus was conceived in Mary's womb. Mary's egg had to have been involved for Jesus to be made of the seed of David.
Romans 1:3 KJVS
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
Galatians 4:4 KJVS
But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
Hebrews 2:14,16 KJVS
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [16] For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
Please join me in this video as we discuss this important subject in light of Scripture so we can confess that Jesus is both Lord and God! Jesus Christ is the one singular God (Yahweh) incarnate as our Saviour.
