Spending DAYS in the ER. Banned From a Hospital Room. Life Support Discrimination. Life with a Vent
When going to the emergency department, and the doctor decides to admit me to the hospital, it is often a challenge to get a room in the hospital. The nursing staff believes high level care (because I am on life support) and need to be in the intensive care unit (ICU) while the doctors and hospital staff know I can manage my ventilator and believe I can be in a regular hospital room. A gridlock is created, and I sometimes the entire length of my hospitalization in the emergency department. #lifewithavent #lifesupport #emergencyroom
