Remember that time I promised BentPaperClip an Iroh video?? Yeah, here it is. Only one and a half years late.
It took me a while to find the right song, because I had to find one without it making me focus solely on his relationship with Zuko, and I didn't want it to be completely angsty either because that's not who Iroh is. I was obsessed with this song a few years back. Though it talks about sad things it's got a positive message, which is why I chose it in the end. Iroh's overcome several heartaches and lost basically everything he could've lost (except for Zuko), and he's so knowledgeable of the things that really matter because of it. He only uses violence when it really matters (let's all remember he was an general at some point) and he has learned to appreciate the beauty in life just for what it is. By far the most inspirational but underappreciated character of atla, as his arc is very much a crutch of Zuko's (which made this very hard not to turn into zuzu time). I also felt like adding those few seconds of Toph in there were necessary, as that little talk altered both their paths so massively (Iroh went on to learn how to let go of Zuko and trust he'd find his own way, Toph learned how to accept and appreciate help and care from others).
The reason this video took me so long was that I was never happy about the editing, but I'm just so done with it now and I want to move on. All I want this to do now is get the message across and have an Iroh video existing in the world. Yay Iroh!
