Salzburg's Gleaming White Fortress - Hohensalzburg Castle - Austria Travel Guide
Salzburg's number one attraction is the mighty fortress high up on a hill overlooking the city. From here you have the best views in the house of the city and the mountains in the distance, and it's been a tourist attraction for well over a century.
Although almost 950 years old, the castle today doesn't feel that way as much of it had been redeveloped over the centuries. There are still plenty of places to explore, along with a room full of puppets and The Scary Door!
