3 things I learned today about neuropathy pain.
I am in Amsterdam at the world Congress of pain.
The first thing is what prof Luis Garcia Larrea explained that neuropathic pain is a maladaptive reaction of the nervous system to lesions of the sensory paths.
The second was from Prof Ruth was that pain after a psychological trauma like in PTSD is very similar to central pain and the main mechanism is alteration of the top-down pain regulation.
And third, from Prof Daniel Ciampi, that the somatosensory system is much more than just nerves, spinal cord and the brain.
