Please read the description/textbox first, it gives the corrections to this video + more important info.

In this video I show the (kind of, say: very) first basics to make a 1 tube audio amplifier in a succesful way. Audio demo (9 July 2022) is here    • Video

Where I use tubes (triode-pentode, European types, the ECL types, I will try to use the ECL 80 because I have a few of them, more than 2).

It will be a stereo audio tube amplifier for say 1-1.5 Watt audio out to the loudspeakers.

The demo is with the ECL 80, but you can also use the ECL82 or other high(er) numbers in the ECL range.

The ECL type number (European way of typing tubes since the 1950’s, the Philips way) means: E=filament voltage of 6 Volt (often at 300 mA), C= a triode type tube, L means “that the tube can make some power in the say low audio frequency range”, but also when it works as an oscillator tube (not here, by the way). P means e.g. a filament voltage of 16-18 Volts, as far as I know.

IMPORTANT: more info about tube circuits? Go to the YOU TUBE channel of AllAmerican5Radio to learn much more about radio tubes. More info    • The Vacuum Tube Shortwave Radio
(author: Richard Mc Worther)

Here Richard shows a triode tube works    • Triode Tube Amplification Visual Demo
(very important to get an idea about this technology & its physics)

Here Richard shows how the control grid works    • Control Grid, Triode Tube

In this video I wanted to show some very basics about “building up” a triode-pentode tube audio amplifier, where the triode part of the tube will act as an audio pre amplifier and the pentode part of the tube will act as an audio end-amplifier in the 1-2 Watt range.

Please note: this is only a first video, gives first idea’s about a good setup, paying attention to the tube properties, shielding, etc.

Important: on 1.15 I say “that I have published on my YT Channel a 1 tube (triode-pentode) tube amplifier for say 1.5 Watt” but that was in my very early years on You Tube, say 15 years ago.

That old video is no longer available. So now, 20 June 2022, it is no longer there as a separate video.

But everything what I did and worked out is told in the free leaflet on the LULU website where you can see how I made that 1 tube (triode-pentode) audio amplifier (in the 1-3 Watt range audio output) in the past. Leaflet of 2011.

Also important: after cleaning the tube sockets etc. in the ultrasound bath they were sprayed with brake cleaner to push all the moisture away and clean them even better. Also usable: acetone and thinner. Keep these fluids away from plastics, they can melt under acetone & thinner.

The glue on my hands that you see in this video is glue for sewage pipes, the transparent type of that, smell = acetone, can be deluted by acetone or thinner. I use it to laquer the wood, just like they used shellac in the past to prevent water or moisture entering wood/coils etc.

LINK to the LULU website (where my books are) is below in this description/textbox.

My You Tube channel trailer is here:    • Radiofun232 on YouTube (updated monthly)   When you search, search always “NEWEST FIRST” to get the right overview. You can also search via the “looking glass” on my Channel trailer via keywords like ”audio”, “radio”, “amplifier”, “filter”, “Shortwave”, “transistor”, “FET”, “oscillator”, “generator”, “switch”, “schmitt trigger” etc; so the electronic subject you are interested in. My books about electronics & analog radio technology are available via the website of "LULU”, search for author “Ko Tilman” there.

I keep all my YT videos constant actual, so the original video’s with the most recent information are always on YouTube. Search there, and avoid my circuits that are republished, re-arranged, re-edited on other websites, giving not probable re-wiring, etc. Some persons try to find gold via my circuits. I take distance from all these fake claims. I cannot help that these things happen. Upload 20 June 2022.

Somewhere in the video I talk about a "tap drill", but the literal translation of the Dutch word attributed to the showed drill in this video is "trapboor", litt. translation = "staircase drill"...
