The Labor Department has punished an auto shop owner who spitefully delivered backpay to an ex-employee, in PENNIES!
That actually undersells what happened so lets get into more detail.
After the former employee complained to government regulators, the owner of A OK Walker Autoworks dumped NINETY-ONE THOUSAND OIL-COVERED PENNIES in his driveway! That’s about five hundred pounds’ worth!
On top of that, the company’s website bragged about the dirty deed, calling it, quote, “a gotcha to a sub-par ex-employee.” And threw in a bunch of seemingly unproven character attacks as well!
Because of that AND broken overtime laws, the auto shop owner has been ordered to pay this ex-employee and others thirty-nine grand in backpay and damages! To that I say, Karmas a bitch!
