North Korea claims to have tested a nuclear-capable underwater drone that can, quote, “stealthily infiltrate into operational waters and make a super-scale radioactive tsunami”!
Though there’s divided opinion on just how much of a threat this new weapon represents, it does reflect North Korea’s continued nuclear ambitions. In fact, the test was reportedly done as part of a three-day exercise that simulated nuclear attacks on South Korean targets!
It also comes at a time of high tension between North and South Korea AND between North Korea and the U.S. Reports indicate that the American military is planning to deploy advanced assets, including aircraft carriers, off the Korean Peninsula. And the U.S. and South Korea just completed some of its most extensive joint training in years.
