Canada spends a lot of time hand-wringing about its national anthem. We officially changed the lyrics from “in all thy son’s command” to “in all of us command,” because the former was sexist. And now there’s a drive to change “our home and native land” to “our home on native land” because of reconciliation. But none of these anxieties exist in French Canada, where the French lyrics to O Canada are a completely different song.
