There are calls to bring the free prescription age in line with the age at which you can claim the state pension - which is now 66.
Prescriptions are now £9.90 per item - and having more OAPs pay would apparently raise more than £6billion for the Treasury - and could work towards plugging the deficit in the economy.
But it could be an unpopular move - particularly in the wake of the government's decision to strip more than 10 million pensioners of their winter fuel payments...
