I found the MOST BEAUTIFUL Village in the Alps || Gosau Austria || Best Places to Visit in Austria
I can truly say that I found the most beautiful village in the Alps for the Austrian village of Gosau. It is located at the foot of the Dachstein mountain and is somewhat in the shadow of the much more popular village of Hallstatt, but once you visit it I am sure you will come again. This is a real Alpine village, like those villages from the picture books we read as children.
Gosau is a picturesque village in Upper Austria, nestled in the Salzkammergut it’s part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut, renowned for its stunning natural landscapes. Gosau is surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, with the towering Dachstein glacier serving as a backdrop. One of its highlights is the Gosausee, a crystal-clear mountain lake that mirrors the surrounding peaks. The hike around the lake is easy and perfect for visitors of all levels, offering breathtaking views of the Dachstein.
Gosau Austria is one of the best places to visit in Austria and the entire Alps. Along with the Swiss villages of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, this is one of the must-see places to get a sense of the beauty.
While Gosau enjoys a quieter atmosphere, it's only about 15 kilometers from Hallstatt, making it an excellent base for exploring the entire region. Visitors can easily explore the famous salt mines, the Hallstatt Skywalk, or the Dachstein ice caves from Gosau.
