This film broke me and it also broke the usual kdrama trope. Usually in Kdramas if 2 people in their past lives experience passionate love or a tragic fate, they would end up together or have another encounter in their next life. Case in point; Goblin, Moon in the Day, See You in My 19th Life etc. But this feels almost like a break up, even though Hae Sung & Na Young technically never dated but they had this magical connection between them. The way Teo Yoo and Greta Lee portray these character really makes me believe they are soulmates. However, it is clear to me at least that this movie is portraying their end of 'in-yun'. In their next life, they probably won't even meet. And Na Young's cry at the end signifies both sorrow & relief of the tension she carries for the past 24 years of their connection. While it is sad it also means that she and Arthur are now more connected to each other.
Also, shoutout to Arthur for being literally the best husband. I can't imagine how many men would freak out over Na Young & Hae Sung's reunion no matter how innocent it is. But Arthur being respectfu, understanding & trusting is just the kind of man I wished for every (good) woman out there. Of course it would only work with Na Young being a loyal and trustworthy wife. Protect Arthur at all cost. Even if I have lost my 'in yun' with my soulmate, I could only wish the one standing next to me should be someone as amazing as Arthur.
