I read the book and I don't get the beef against the Netflix version because it is actually not bad at all. It suits the modern times with great aesthetic. And the relationship between Maxim and Mrs. de Winter is more convincing than the ones in the book imo.
I mean, the description says "sweep her off her feet" but I didn't get such impression from the book.
I love the concept that the protagonist is unnamed. And Rebecca, despite being dead felt pretty much alive.
The acting is solid from everyone although Maxim's character is downgraded in comparison to the book. But everyone was convincing especially Thomas' Mrs. Danvers. Man, I love her but I also hate her.
The ending is quite unique and I love it. It is in a way "happier" but at the same time mysterious.
