This movie is so aesthetically pleasing but could've been so much better. But why???
Thankfully though, the song is so good. And the visuals are stunning. I love the location selection with all the insta-worthy murals, perfect representation of people who looks for these locations and their aesthetics, the 90's settings that brought back nostalgia.
But there are so much to fix with the writing and the acting, I'm not sure the fault lies in the actors or writers or direction. A lot of people shit on Sara Ali Khan and I think it's unfair. Yes, I agree she overacted in some scenes and the crying scene was cringe at best but I think something else is going on as well and more fault lies in the writing.
I like Kartik Aaryan's portrayal of Raghu in the 90's and I wish I could say the same when he plays Veer. He was trying so hard to be Ranbir's character from Tamasha that he forget that these two people are different and this is a different story.
Raghu's subtle change and growth was well-portrayed shows and shows that he is more than just that actor who only plays movies in one genre. The portrayal of Leena by Arushi was mature and subtle. The simplicity of 90's storyline was the one that kept me watching.
The writing felt rushed, inconsistent and the what the hell is going on with sudden character change. The connection to the 90's storyline was so flimsy. And so many issues that could've been addressed were swept under the rug.
