This week, we’ll be discussing Martin Scorsese’s favorite movie, The Red Shoes, directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. The Red Shoes tells the story of a love quadrangle between artists, coattail riders, and misogony. Released in 1948, it uses the story by Hans Christian Anderson to tell a bigger story, which is also sort of a retelling. Absolutely gorgeous and one of the most important films in history to the art of compositing, The Red Shoes has earned its place in The Criterion Collection.
With Nathan Bezner, Andrew Jenner, Matt Wagner, Jane Belcastro, and Hsien Lee
