Are we raising perverts? Well...maybe. Establishing what are normal and acceptable sexual behaviors is not easy to do. Therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists have been helping adults to navigate their sexual desires and have heard from clients a wide variety of sexual behaviors that may be described as abnormal and unacceptable. Does this mean that everybody is a pervert? And if so, are we raising perverts?
How do we prevent our kid from being labeled a pervert? In this video, I talk about 4 common behaviors that if an individual were to do, they would be labeled a pervert. These include staring, sending dick pics, constantly talking about sex, and upskirting. Acknowledging as parents that we need to have more conversations about these behaviors with our children. Explaining to them why these behaviors are unacceptable and inappropriate to do may be what is lacking in sex education. Because it is difficult within the psych community to define what are normal and acceptable behaviors, the mental disorder approach of causing harmful dysfunction has been applied to whether a sexual behavior is abnormal and unacceptable and discussed in this video.
