It's a common question that kids ask, What is Sex? And after learning what sex is, many kids in the intermediate age wonder WHY adults would have sex? Moving beyond the, How are Babies Made, conversation you can introduce the concept that the majority of adults engage in sex because it feels good. Kids understand the concept of pleasure and stating that sex can feel pleasurable will not be a completely foreign concept for them. They understand that many things can feel good and actively choose to eat foods that they find pleasing, or play games that they enjoy playing. Providing them with information around pleasure as a part of sexuality is a key foundational sex talk that will prepare you to have more nuanced talks about sex and pleasure in the middle and high school years.
