Honda has filed a design patent for the 2020 Jazz hatchback in India. The company has presumably done so to protect and assert its intellectual property (IP) rights on the car. It hasn’t disclosed any plans to launch the 2020 model in India. Meanwhile, the current-generation Jazz has been updated to BS6 and is likely to be launched after the lockdown.
Honda had revealed the 2020 Jazz at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. For its 2020 iteration, the Jazz comes with revamped looks, an upmarket interior, premium features and a new dual-motor hybrid powertrain. While technical specifications are yet to be revealed, it is expected to utilise a 1.5-litre petrol engine that comes mated to an electric motor.
The 2020 Jazz is unlikely to be launched in India due to the current model's meagre sales. However, if launched, expect the prices to go up over the current model which is priced from Rs 7.45 lakh. It will rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Toyota Glanza and the Tata Altroz in India.
