When should sex ed start in schools? When should parents start talking to their kids about sex? How should we teach sex ed to our kids? Should we just let the schools do it or should parents be the primary sex ed teachers for their kids? The answers to these questions aren't so simple because unlike other subjects that kids learn in schools, sex education has many values associated with it. I do believe that sex education belongs in the classroom as well as in the home for a variety of reasons that I discuss in this 5 minute video. Which sex education is better? School sex ed or At-Home sex ed? The answer isn't mutually exclusive.

It's a great time to explain what is sex in a medically-accurate way and discuss why this is something that adults do with other adults and not kids. Having this sex talk in the intermediate age can potentially prevent child sexual abuse from happening because you are equipping your child with the knowledge and skills to understand what is considered appropriate and inappropriate behavior.

'It's Time for the Sex Talk for Parents' is a channel designed for modern day parents who know that the sex talks aren't a one-time talk but continuous conversation starting in the toddler years. If you feel unprepared to have talks about sex with your child - subscribe and follow along as I bring you weekly videos designed to help you build your confidence in having the sex talks.

Your religious, cultural, and family values are an important aspect to the sex talks and I want you to include them in your talks with your child after providing medically-accurate and age-appropriate sex education first. Family values are an integral part to the sex talks with your child after you first explain the medically-accurate sexual health information in an age-appropriate way. Then, absolutely, you can include your family values.
