I totally disagree with this perspective, as it leads to political and social instability and the lack of a safety net for the less fortunate.
The main reason I disagree that the governmentโs role should be limited is because it will lead to a less stable society. This is because the provision of a full range of services addresses broader societal issues that affect stability, such as unemployment, public discontent, and economic disparities. For example, during my time volunteering on community development projects, I observed that state initiatives in social housing significantly reduced local crime rates and fostered a more secure and harmonious community environment.
Moreover, I believe that governments should be involved in providing essential services because they can offer a comprehensive safety net for society's vulnerable individuals. This includes the elderly, the unemployed, and those unable to afford private healthcare or schooling. By providing these fundamental services, politicians can prevent unnecessary suffering to individuals and ensure that the human rights of all of their citizens are upheld.
In conclusion, I completely disagree with the notion that political leaders should restrict their roles to only defence and infrastructure while leaving other functions to private organisations. A government's ability to use its resources to increase political and social stability and provide a safety net for the less fortunate is crucial for fostering a unified, stable society. These roles are integral to ensuring that all citizens have fair access to essential services, thereby supporting the overall prosperity and stability of the nation.
