Is Fuji Releasing a One-inch Half-frame? What is Half-Frame?
Half-frame cameras have a long history. Going back to the earliest days oh plate photography, full- and half-plate camera were to sizes that, by today's standards, were quite large. But a half-plate camera was the original half-frame camera. In the early days of 120 film when 6X9 was the default size, 645 was the half-frame size. In 127 camera, 4X6 was a full frame and 4X3 a half-frame. And of course 35mm cameras had half-frame options. So what is a half of a frame? Is a camera with a 1" sensor truly a half-frame size?
