Make a $5 router from 2005, into a modern solution
In this video I dive into the world of installing 3rd party, opensource software on old routers to enable new features, better security, performance hacks and essentially make them useful again! Step away from that trash can!
The model I cover in this video is the wrt54g v3.0 I installed DDWRT on to it, but you could also leverage different routers from Linksys, buffalo, cisco, etc. A lot of it comes down to how much RAM and ROM this machines have available, so be sure to look up what is supported before you snag one! The version numbers are pretty critical when figuring out if they have 8mb RAM or 16mb RAM.
