On the afternoon of January 29, the Ukrainian Army demolished a strategically important bridge in the occupied territory near the settlement of Svitlodolynske in the Melitopol region, as the Ukraine-Russia war continues.
The Russian-installed governor of the Zaporizhzhia region, Vladimir Rogov, stated that the Ukrainian HIMARS rockets damaged the bridge over the Molochna River in the settlement of Svitlodolynske.
At the time of the attack, the bridge was being repaired. A railroad line that the Russians used to bring their troops passes by Svitlodolynske.
According to former US Army in Europe commander General Ben Hodges, the major goal for the de-occupation of Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia area, is to prevent Russia from transferring weapons and soldiers from Crimea to Mariupol and Melitopol.
Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov previously stated that, despite massive casualties at the front, the Russians are attempting to propagate propaganda about their purported "successes" in the Zaporizhzhia direction.
